How to Take Care of the Gourd or Wooden Mate
Curing the Mate:
New Gourd: Fill it with used yerba and add hot water. Let it rest for 24 hours. Repeat this process for several days to seal the pores and prevent it from cracking.
Maintenance: After each use, empty the yerba and rinse with warm water, letting it dry upside down in a ventilated place.
Avoiding Mold:
Drying: Never store the gourd while wet. It’s crucial that it dries completely between uses.
Deep Cleaning: Occasionally, clean the inside with a spoon to remove stuck yerba and other residues.
How to Clean the Bombilla
Daily Cleaning:
Rinse with Water: After each use, rinse the bombilla with hot water to remove yerba residues.
Deep Cleaning:
Dismantle: If possible, dismantle the bombilla for more thorough cleaning.
Baking Soda: Boil the bombilla in water with baking soda to remove stuck residues and disinfect it.
Brush: Use a fine brush to clean the interior, making sure to remove any obstructions.
